Mimice is a small typical Mediterranean place, located beneath the slopes of the Omiš part of Dinara, only 12km from the town of Omiš. Mimice have everything you need: a market, a post office, a pizzeria and an art gallery. This place stretches from the mountain all the way to the beautiful pebble beaches Juto and Kutleša. One can get to both Kutleša and Juto by walking down and by car, and there is free parking space as well. When going by foot, you need to consider that Mimice are on a sloping terrain, so it takes about 10 minutes to walk up to the apartments. Both beaches have restaurants and bars. There are also beautiful beaches in the area to discover and enjoy.
Hiking and trekking
The town of Omiš lies in the embrace of three steep mountains – Omiška Dinara, Komorjak and Mosor. For centuries these mountains served as a natural shield from enemies, whereas today they represent a perfect venue for hiking tours. Except for offering a number of well marked theme trails suitable for recreational hikers and all-year-round tours, each spring the mountains around Omiš become the venue of the Spring Trekking Cup – a series of hiking/trekking marathons which, apart from endurance, also test one’s resourcefulness and orientation skills.
Rafting
Rafting on the Cetina River has for over two decades been the favourite activity of many tourists spending at least a day in Omiš. What makes this river adventure especially attractive is the fact that it can be adapted to everyone. Families with kids and seniors will get to enjoy easy paddling through pristine nature, whereas adrenaline lovers will take a different route and measure their strength against a series of wild river rapids. Rafting on the Cetina River is an idyllic and peaceful nature trip.
Biokovo tour
The climb to the highest top of the Biokovo mountain, Sveti Jure (St. George), at 1762 m above sea level, is a demanding and difficult route. To reach the mountaintop of Sveti Jure, you need three hours on average depending on the fitness and age of the cyclist. Cyclists should own safe, serviced and fully equipped bicycles and additional clothes and helmets. The 30-km route (one-way) passes along the entirety of the 23-km Biokovo road, which is the highest paved road in the Republic of Croatia.
Skywalk
Skywalk Biokovo is located at the Ravna Vlaška area, at an elevation ot 1228 metres, right next to the info ¬center at the 13th kilometer of the Biokovo road. At the viewpoint, there is also a geological column providing a 3D overview of the cross-section of the rock that forms Mt. Biokovo, from this formation until today, with a geological time chart and description of the types of rock and their ages. The viewpoint area is also equipped with parking and restroom facilities. The Skywalk can be reached from the Biokovo road that starts at the entrance into Biokovo Nature Park, about 6 km east of Makarska, and leads to the highest peak, Sv. Jure (St. George) at an elevation of 1762 metres, making it Croatia's highest paved road.
Blue Lake
Blue Lake is located at the end of the town, in a 300 to 500 meter deep crater. Its maximum length is 800 meters and the width is 500 meters, but those dimensions change considerably, depending on the water level – the lake sometimes goes completely dry in summer. The water level oscillates, often reaching 100 meters. The highest, measured in 1914, reached 147 meters. The oscillations are due to estavels at the bottom of the lake, which act as springs during the rainy season and as drains during the dry season. The water is of a nice blue colour, which gave it its name. The access road leads almost to the bottom. In summer, the lake is the local population’s favourite swimming pool and children play football at the bottom when it dries out, which is a special attraction.
Red Lake
Red Lake is a hydromorphological phenomenon, a world rarity because of its unique shape, colour, and genesis. It is located 1.5 km to the north-west of Imotski. It was formed when underground water pits collapsed and experts often call it a wonder of karst because it is an abyss with slopes resembling a natural well. It is some 200 meters in diameter and more than 500 meters deep, half of which is the depth of the water. Its bottom has not been entirely explored yet.
